Biography
A visual language grounded in calligraphic form.
Khuzaima Ayaz (b. 2000, Multan, Pakistan) is a visual calligraphy artist based in Lahore. Working in calligraphy for more than seven years, he explores language as a visual structure, bringing traditional techniques into a contemporary practice.
His work considers how letters, words and their arrangement can communicate beyond literal reading. Ayaz has participated in exhibitions in Pakistan and internationally, and has shared his practice with television audiences through Subh Ka Sitara, Jaago Lahore, Lahore News and City 42.

Artist statement
Words, encountered first as form.
In my work, I explore how words affect our minds, hearts and emotions. I am interested in the moment when a word is first seen as a shape, and in how that shape becomes meaning.
Rather than asking words only to be read in the conventional sense, I use letters and their structures to create visual scenes and environments. By arranging words in unexpected ways, I explore how a message or feeling can be communicated before—or even without—literal reading.
Through this process, I hope to reveal the hidden beauty and depth within the shapes and forms of language itself.

في عملي، أستكشف كيف تؤثر الكلمات في عقولنا وقلوبنا ومشاعرنا. يهمني ذلك اللقاء الأول مع الكلمة بوصفها شكلاً بصرياً، ثم الطريقة التي يتحول بها هذا الشكل إلى معنى.
بدلاً من التعامل مع الكلمات بوصفها مادة تُقرأ بالمعنى التقليدي فحسب، أستخدم الحروف وبُناها لصنع مشاهد وبيئات بصرية. ومن خلال إعادة ترتيب الكلمات بطرائق غير متوقعة، أبحث في قدرة الرسالة أو الإحساس على الوصول قبل القراءة الحرفية، أو حتى من دونها.
ومن خلال هذه العملية، أسعى إلى الكشف عن الجمال والعمق الكامنين في أشكال اللغة وبُناها.
